My name is Ubiratan Santos Freitas and I was born in 1976 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. In 1994, I finished my high school, and, in 1995, I started my undergraduate course in Electrical Engineering at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, which lasted until the beginning of 2000. In this same year, I started my master’s studies, also in Electrical Engineering, at the Centro de Pesquisas e Desenvolvimento em Engenharia ElÚtrica with the MACSIN group, under the supervision of Luis A. Aguirre.
In 2001, after concluding my master’s thesis, I moved to Sao JosÚ dos Campos for a PhD course at the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais-INPE, in Applied Computer Sciences under the supervision of Elbert E. N. Macau. My Ph’D work focused on the use of nonlinear control techniques and synchronization to estimate unknown model parameters in nonlinear dynamical systems. The approach I developed used nonlinear control strategies to synchronize the model with the system whose unknown parameters were to be estimated. The Ph’D ended in the end of 2006.
I’m currently working as a post-doc at the UniversitÚ de Rouen in a cooperation program with ADIR Association studying the coupling and synchronism of a patient and a pressure support ventilation system.
